Affleck tipped for solo Batman movies!

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Oh no it’s just another Batman Rumor!

What would the New Year be without some Batman vs. Superman rumors? Terrible that’s what!

The latest is that Ben Affleck has been tipped for a solo Batman franchise take over post-Man of Steel sequel. Now we’d already sort of guessed this but hearing said out loud (or in our case, seeing on screen) somehow makes it all the more real. Now the source is from Metro, so we’re not all that sure of the reliability of the source, but the fact of the matter is that there is potential for there to be a new series of solo Batman films, probably not even 10 years after Christian Bale’s stint as the Dark Knight.

Metro stated:

According to Batman On Film, it’s likely that the actor will star in his own solo Batman films. Bill ‘Jet’ Ramey, a writer for Batman On Film, said his ‘fingers and toes’ were crossed that Affleck would continue playing the superhero after Batman v Superman. He said: ‘I don’t think he’ll play Batman forever (pun kinda intended). If I had to guess, I’d say 5: BvS, 3 solo Batman films, and another DC team-up movie.’ Ramey answered a number of questions from fans about Zack Snyder’s forthcoming film and insisted that Superman – not Batman – was its main focus.

Firstly can I just say…Superman is the main focus of Batman vs. Superman? I’m sorry but how much rumor and speculation has Henry Cavill received during this pre-production/filming time? A minimal amount compared to Affleck. Already Batman has taken more focus than Superman and anyway doesn’t Batman always pull focus from Superman? Simply because he is so damned cool!

Honestly I don’t think I could cope with another Batman series of films so soon after The Dark Knight trilogy. Those films were just perfection and a reboot so soon after The Dark Knight Rises (2012), to me just seems stupid! Besides we have to see how Affleck performs in his role as the Caped Crusader. We need to see if he’s got the right stuff for a solo film. If he doesn’t portray Batman in a way that pleases the fans then creating a solo film would be suicide. I am still holding out hope that he will pull it out of the bag, but some fans aren’t so lenient.

Ramey guessed that if a solo series does come about then there would be three films and then Batman would be part of another DC Universe, action packed adventure. Is it just me or does this stink of Marvel Copycat? Seriously they should be a bit more subtle. Why 3? Why has 3 films become the standard for all movies?? No, I’m not going into this, I’ll only rant for a good hour or so about it.

Anyway…are we ready for another Batman series? I’m saying no. What do you think?

A reboot is most definitely needed after the dark knight rises. the only perfection in Nolans trilogy was The Dark Knight. Begins was good and rises was unfortunately a ‘hot mess’ and a completely missed opportunity. (I tried to deny this to myself for so long but deep inside you know its true.)
