Deep breaths now…
After yesterdays big release of the Batman: Arkham Knight trailer I have to admit I am still on a major high! I will try to reign in my fangirl…but I’m making no promises.
Speaking in the new issue of Game Informer, director of Rocksteady Games Sefton Hill has revealed a bit more about what we can expect from the upcoming game.
About the game play Hill stated:
Personally I don’t mind it not being a multiplayer game. I don’t want to share my Batman experience with anyone else. I’m selfish like that 😉 Instead of putting all their time and efforting into making a passable multiplayer game, Rocksteady are putting all their time and effort into making the best single-player experience they possibly can. This…makes me very happy indeed.
Bigger world and more asses that need to be kicked. What’s not to love? Tim Hanagan, the lead AI and combat programmer for the game told Game Informer that:
Okay so 3 to 5 times the amount of asses to kick! I can already hear myself laughing maniacally as I actively seek out bad guys to beat the living daylights out of 😀
Being able to drive the Batmobile is going to be a new addition to the game play which i think is the right move for Rocksteady. In Arkham Asylum and Arkham City the Batmobile was always there in some way, shape or form but you were never able to actually drive it. Arkham Origins (must not rant, must not rant) missed a trick when they introduced the Batwing but didn’t allow you to fly it. Jumping up into the Batwing in origins became nothing more than a loading screen. The Batmobile will be able to power you through the streets of Gotham and you will be able to jump out of it and glide kick your enemies and also grapple up into the rooftops of the city. It will also play a part in some of the Riddler’s Challenges (which is going to be AWESOME).
So what about Villains?
We know the Joker will not appear (which I am sad about however it can’t always be about our favorite Clown Prince of Crime. Well all know what happened to him at the end of Arkham City anyway O.O). The Villains that we know of so far include Scarecrow, Two-face, The Penguin and Harley Quinn (who will be available as a playable character if you pre-order the game!) It is also rumored that ‘Hush’ will make an appearance in the game.
Another epic piece of news that has come from all of this Batman: Arkham Knight awesomeness…
Kevin Conroy is coming back as the voice of Batman!!
Out of everything that I’ve heard this is the news that has pleased me the most. He is my Batman, he is ‘the voice’. No one will ever be able to voice an animated Batman like Conroy can. It only makes sense for him to voice Batman for this game as he has voiced the other two. Origins was a prequel and so Batman was younger, his voice not as mature (and therefore not as good in my opinion…I’m very biased when it comes to Kevin Conroy).
This game, for me, couldn’t get anymore perfect if it tried.
Well report on all Batman: Arkham Knight news as and when it comes out :D
