According to Scmoes Know, Tim Burton definitely wants to helm the sequel. Apparently they have a “very reliable” source:
Maybe it’s just me but I really don’t think Beetlejuice needs a sequel after 26 years of being a perfectly amazing stand alone film.
Coming up to Halloween I always watch Beetlejuice at some point because it is (in my opinion) an amazing film with probably one of the coolest musical scores for that genre of film. I never thought it needed a sequel. I will admit that I would have liked to have seen more of Bettlejuice…oh wait I did! In the cool little animated series that was produced for Cartoon Network by Tim Burton.
I understand that Michael Keaton is going to reprise his role as the main man himself, and really this is probably the only saving grace to this sequel as any other person as Beetlejuice wouldn’t have looked right. However I’m still really unsure about all of this. He may be ‘a ghost with the most’ but the sequel is going to have to be damn good to be a success. Beetlejuice is still a beloved character around the world but could a sequel potentially harm that love if it doesn’t meet to what will be some very high standards?
