We’ put the Shop in Workshops…..HUH?
Over the next few days we here at Uproar Comics will be taking a number of workshops. These workshops will be focusing on teaching high school kids the important of scripting, storyboarding, filming and editing.
The kids of Northern Ireland have been tasked with creating a video for the Culture Tech ‘Big Video Challenge’. The videos must focus on the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). We go into the school and help the kids to perfect their scripting, storyboarding, filming and editing skills. Once they have these skills perfect they have everything they need to create a STEM focused, fun and imaginative video.
So far we’ve had some brilliant ideas from the kids of Derry. We’ve had them looking to do experiments on how the brain perceives pain, how the brain creates memories, air pressure, the creation of cheese and a lot of experiments concerning fire and combustion! The kids in our town have an unlimited imagination and the more information we give them to process the more creative their ideas become. Seeing kids getting excited about Science, technology, Engineering and Maths is very endearing…and that’s coming from a bunch of artists and writers!
The Big Video Challenge is open to school kids, community groups and even family groups from 26th March. the closing date is in June so you have plenty of time to experiment with your ideas (pardon the lame joke) 😉
We’ll keep you updated on everything that is happening with the Big Video Challenge and we look forward to seeing what all the kids come up with. We’re going to have some amazing videos!
